Special Friday Shed
More excitement and changes at the garden! Before I get too excited and write about today's adventures, I'll write about yesterday's. We had another awesome CSA week. For week 2, we had more produce than last week. According to our weight measurements, we tripled the amount of broccoli we gave to people! It was a great week for harvesting, and we all were in high spirits packing our vegetables into baggies and bunching them up with rubber bands. We also added a few more items to our CSA bags this week. This week's menu was as follows: Broccoli, Snap Peas, Swiss Chard, Kale, Sweet Basil, Cabbage (new!), Radishes (new!), and Beets (new!). Everything looked so beautiful! Our radishes were especially pretty as they are called Easter Egg Radishes and they come in all different colors and shapes.Today was a very special day. We built the majority of our shed! It took us all morning, and we are all very proud of our work. It looks awesome. It may not be exactly perfect from a construction standpoint, but it will be perfect for our garden. It's 8x12 ft, so there will be plenty of room for our rototiller (Hildalgo), tools, and supplies for our CSA. We also have a lattice on one side of it on which we will grow a raspberry bush. We also are going to collect the rainwater from the roof and use it for irrigation for our garden. Man, I feel so accomplished right now!I'm constantly surprised by how much we're growing. It's easy to forget when I'm out there weeding around individual plants, but when I step back, wow! It's looking really good!
