Innisfree and Gazpacho!
It continues to be quite a wet summer in C’ville. After a weekend away I returned to find zucchini the size of baseball bats! They seem to be soaking up all the water they can get. Our CSA-ers will have to get mighty creative in the kitchen in order to consume all the zucchini, yellow squash and patty pan squash we are sending their way. They are also enjoying a rainbow of potatoes this week: Adirondack Blue, Red Pontiac, and Yukon Gold!In other news, we’ve set the date and time for our Fieldtrip to the Innisfree Village. We will be carpooling from Charlottesville at 4pm on Tuesday, July 30th. We’ll be given a tour of the vegetable garden by Annie Hasz as well as a talk by Farm Manager Pete Travers who will tell us about his land management scheme for grazing livestock on 500 acres. Then we will pause for a potluck picnic before taking a swim at Sugar Hollow. It’s not too late to join in on the fun. Please email me at ifg2ac@virginia.edu to attend! And we have yet another exciting garden event on the horizon -
You are cordially invited to the Morven Kitchen Garden’s 3rd Annual
