This winter break, the staff at Morven invite you to join us in reading “Growing a Revolution” a fantastic book by David Montgomery.

Ever wonder what the difference is between “no-till” farming, conservation agriculture, and regenerative farming practices? What about how organic practices or livestock fit into these systems? And most importantly, do these practices have the potential to feed our growing global population? What about carbon sequestration? David answers these questions and more as he travels from large North-American commodity grain farms, to small, subsistence farmers in Africa, to coffee plantations in the tropics.

Even though the discussions in this book are steeping in soil science and carbon accounting, the story telling is far from textbook. David takes you on a journey that will keep you turning pages, and even as someone without a scientific background, I found the concepts presented in an easily digestible format. We hope you plan on joining us at the Food Lab on Saturday, February 4th, from 10am-12pm to enjoy refreshments, thought provoking discussions, and critical thinking as it relates to the future of farming. Whether or not you’ve read the book, everyone has something to contribute to the discussion.
