Let the planting begin!

Today was a gorgeous 70 degree + sunny day in Charlottesville, so a bunch of us spent the afternoon planting our happy little seedling greens at Morven! A few friends also stopped by to visit the garden, and together many hands made light work - we planted four 80ft rows in under an hour.We planted kale, spinach, swiss chard, and a range of lettuces - black seeded simpson, mesclin mix, buttercrunch, and great lakes head. Our seedlings look fabulous already - thanks to Jay and the folks at Etlzroth and Thompson Greenhouse - they did an incredible job starting all of our greens for the spring while we are still getting the garden back into shape.Last week we planted our potatoes (yukon gold, potomac red, and adirondack blue) as well as our onions (white, yellow, and red) - oh, summer can't come fast enough!
