A New Addition

Sorry for the delay, friends .  After planting the okra and flowers, we are completely done with the first half of the garden!  Now that we've gotten everything planted in quadrants 1 and 2, things are beginning to wind down a bit.  During the first half of this week, we have been focusing on mulching, weeding and setting up the irrigation for the remaining rows.  We've also taken note that some of the squash and melon seeds are struggling to germinate due to the brutal heat and thus have been watering them at least twice a day.On a happier note, we're learning that Morven's environment is conducive to the growth of beans and peas.  The beans that we planted last Thursday have been shooting up at an impressive speed!  In addition, the sugarsnaps are flowering and we're beginning to spot some pods.  Sure signs that our garden is alive and thriving - how exciting! Also, thanks to three wonderful students from the Morven Summer Institute, we've welcomed a new addition to the garden family - a veggie washing station!  More to come about it and its wondrous doings later, but for now, here's a sneak peek!
