With a little help from our (APO) friends

Saturday brought us blue skies, a warm wind, and 15 fresh faced volunteers from UVA's esteemed co-ed service fraternity, APO. The group arrived bright and early Saturday morning (which is a feat in itself for sleep deprived college students!) and immediately got down to work in the garden.Together, we accomplished a LOT in under 3 hours:

  • Cleared out out two full 80ft rows and prepped for cover crop planting
  • Piled up dozens of loads of weeds in our lovely compost piles
  • Tended to some lovely green growing broccoli and kale
  • Moved the chickens to a new patch of grass
  • (and best of ALL) - Cleared out the corn patch!

Have you SEEN our pile of corn stalks?

Thanks to all the help from APO, we are hoping to wrap up most of our fall preparations in the coming week or two. Check out our baby greens, doin their thing!

Looks like the rain is back now after a few precious days of sunshine - here's to hoping that everyone is enjoying the fall season!
